Repeat Prescriptions

Patients can order repeat medication online via the link at the top of this page or use the NHS app.

The practice will generate and sign all repeat prescriptions within two working days where possible (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays)

We will do our best to provide prescriptions in urgent circumstances but will not compromise patient safety to do so.

Important update

As of the 1st April we will be changing the way we are working to improve our systems and patient safety. This means we will no longer be taking prescriptions over the telephone. There are various ways you can order your prescription and the best way is via the NHS App. Alternative ways are SystmOne Online and patchs. We are still accepting paper requets from patients.

Contraceptive Pill Reviews

If you would like to request a repeat prescription of the contraceptive pill you are currently taking and you are due a review of this medication, you will need to call into the surgery to complete a 'Contraception Pill Review Form', along with an up-to-date blood pressure check, height and weight.

A blood pressure check can be done at either Henry Moore Clinic or Fryston Road Surgery using our automated blood pressure machines. No appointment required.

This information will be sent to the practice team and your prescription should be available within the next 7 days. We will contact you if there is a problem with your request.

If you are having any problems with your pill (such as troublesome bleeding) or you would like to discuss alternative contraception, please make an appointment with the GP.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

  • General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line
