Repeat Prescriptions

Patients can order repeat medication  online via the link at the top of this page.  You can also telephone your repeat prescriptions in after 11.00am every day or you may email it too henrymoore.clinic@nhs.net

The practice will generate and sign all repeat prescriptions within two working days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays) of receiving a request to do so except where:

  • we have tried and failed to contact the patient , if needed before the prescription can be issued safely,

or

  • where a medication review is pending and must be undertaken before the prescription can be issued safely. The request for a medication review will be highlighted on the patient’s most recent prescription and on SystmOne online.

We will do our best to provide prescriptions in urgent circumstances but will not compromise patient safety to do so.

Contraceptive Pill Reviews

If you would like to request a repeat prescription of the contraceptive pill you are currently taking and you are due a review of this medication, please fill out the Contraceptive Pill Review Form. Once you have completed the form, please bring this to the surgery or email to henrymoore.clinic@nhs.net.

If you are having any problems with your pill (such as troublesome bleeding) or you would like to discuss alternative contraception, please make an appointment with the GP.

This information will be sent to the practice team and your prescription should be available within the next 7 days. We will contact you if there is a problem with your request.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

  • Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
  • General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.

Requests From Pharmacies

The practice no longer accepts repeat prescription requests from pharmacies on behalf of patients. You will still need to order your own prescription from the surgery and you prescription can then be electronically sent to the pharmacy of your choice.

The pharmacies can deliver the prescription as arranged.
